Throughout a man’s life his prostate continues to change and grow. While not always harmful, an enlarged prostate can cause a host of urinary issues including frequent urination. This is often a challenge for older men, who have to get up several times throughout the night to go to the bathroom, however a new treatment may change things.
Dr. Barrett Cowan, urologist at Urology Associates, was part of the team at Swedish Medical Center to perform the first groundbreaking Aquablation procedure, aimed to relieve prostate-related health issues. The procedure was the first of it’s kind to be performed in the country. Dr. Cowan and the rest of the Swedish Medical team, as well as the first patient to undergo Aquablation treatment, were recently featured on Denver’s Fox-affiliate KDVR.
